Worship at Good Shepherd
Worship is central to the life of Good Shepherd.
We celebrate Holy Communion every Sunday, everyone is welcome and invited to the Lord’s table.
Worship Music
Sunday worship services include Marty Haugen’s Now the Feast and Celebration and Tree of Life liturgies, seasonal variations of settings from the Lutheran Book of Worship and Evangelical Lutheran Worship, and occasional worship services with more contemporary Christian songs.
Ash Wednesday and Maundy Thursday services are rooted in the gentle, haunting beauty of music from Taize, contemplative songs of prayer that feature easy-to-learn, thoughtful refrains, based in words of scripture. Marty Haugen’s Holden Evening Prayer serves as Lenten Vespers. On Palm Sunday we offer Walt Wangerin’s Cry of the Whole Congregation, a deeply moving, participatory drama involving the entire congregation. The Good Friday service centers on readings from the story of Jesus’ arrest, trial, and crucifixion.
Easter Sunday is a Resurrection Celebration sharing powerful scripture readings and the best of traditional and contemporary song. The Christmas Eve candlelight service is composed entirely of Christmas carols.
Children in the Worship Services
At Good Shepherd we delight in the presence of children and welcome them to worship with us. We know that kids are active and are sometimes noisy, that is o.k. Kids are accepted and welcomed as they are. We have activity bags with sensory toys for your kiddos to use in the Sanctuary, if your kiddo needs a little bit more space and activity, we have two unstaffed play areas for them where they can hear or see what is going on in worship while they play.
Our Mission Statement
Centered in Christ, the Good Shepherd, we WORSHIP with JOY, EMBRACE with LOVE, EQUIP for WITNESS and SERVICE.
