P: Alleluia! Christ is risen.

C: Christ is risen indeed. Alleluia!

P: Joined to Christ in the waters of baptism,

we are raised with him to new life.

Let us give thanks for the gift of baptism.

P: We give you thanks, O God,

for in the beginning you created us in your image

and planted us in a well-watered garden.

In the desert you promised pools of water for the parched,

and you gave us water from the rock.

When we did not know the way,

you sent the Good Shepherd to lead us to still waters.

At the cross, you watered us from Jesus’ wounded side,

and on this day, you shower us again with the water of life.

We praise you for your salvation through water,

for the water in this font,

and for all water everywhere.

Bathe us in your forgiveness, grace, and love.

Satisfy the thirsty, and give us the life only you can give.

To you be given honor and praise

through Jesus Christ our Lord

in the unity of the Holy Spirit, now and forever.

C: Amen.

 Psalm 31: 1-5, 15-16

1In you, O Lord, have I taken refuge; let me never be | put to shame;
deliver me | in your righteousness.
2Incline your | ear to me;
make haste to de- | liver me.
3Be my strong rock, a castle to keep me safe, for you are my crag | and my stronghold;
for the sake of your name, lead | me and guide me.
4Take me out of the net that they have secretly | set for me,
for you are my tow- | er of strength. R
5Into your hands I com- | mend my spirit,
for you have redeemed me, O Lord, | God of truth.
15My times are | in your hand;
rescue me from the hand of my enemies, and from those who | persecute me.
16Let your face shine up- | on your servant;
save me in your | steadfast love.” R

HYMN OF THE DAY                                                     Mothering God                                                               ELW 735

Mothering God, you gave me birth

in the bright morning of this world.

Creator, source of ev’ry breath,

you are my rain, my wind, my sun.

Mothering Christ, you took my form,

offering me your food of light,

grain of life, and grape of love,

your very body for my peace.

Mothering Spirit, nurt’ring one,

in arms of patience hold me close,

so that in faith I root and grow

until I flow’r, until I know.

P: Gathered into one by the Holy Spirit we now confess our faith in the words of the Apostles Creed

C: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;

he descended to the dead.* On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven,

he is seated at the right hand of the Father,

and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

*Or, “he descended into hell,” another translation of this text

in widespread use.

P: Uplifted by the promised hope of healing and resurrection, we join the people of God in all times and places in praying for the church, the world, and all who are in need.

Congregational refrain: P: Lord, in your mercy C: Hear our prayer

P: With bold confidence in your love, almighty God, we place all for whom we pray into your eternal care; through Christ our Lord who gives us the boldness to pray…

C: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done,

on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.

Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power,

and the glory are yours,

now and forever. Amen.

P: May the God who shakes heaven and earth, whom death could not contain, who lives to disturb and heal us, bless you with power to go forth and proclaim the gospel, in the name of+ the Father, the Risen Son, and the Holy Spirit.

C: Amen.

SENDING SONG                 On Eagles Wings                         WOV 779

You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord,

who abide in this shadow for life,

say to the Lord: “My refuge,

my rock in whom I trust!”

And he will raise you up on eagle’s wings,

bear you on the breath of dawn,

make you to shine like the sun,

and hold you in the palm of his hand.

The snare of the fowler will never capture you,

and famine will bring you no fear;

under God’s wings your refuge,

with faithfulness your shield.  Refrain

You need not fear the terror of the night,

nor the arrow that flies by day;

though thousands fall about you,

near you it shall not come.  Refrain

 For to the angels God’s given a command

to guard you in all of your ways;

upon their hands they will bear you up,

lest you dash your foot against a stone.

Final refrain

And he will raise you up on eagle’s wings,

bear you on the breath of dawn,

make you to shine like the sun,

and hold you in the palm of his hand;

and hold you, hold you in the palm of his hand.
