WORD

First Reading:  Jeremiah 28:5-9

Psalm:  Psalm 89:1-4, 15-18

1Your love, O Lord, forever | will I sing;
from age to age my mouth will pro- | claim your faithfulness.
2For I am persuaded that your steadfast love is estab- | lished forever;
you have set your faithfulness firmly | in the heavens.
3“I have made a covenant with my | chosen one;
I have sworn an oath to Da- | vid my servant:
4‘I will establish your | line forever,
and preserve your throne for all | generations.’ ”
15Happy are the people who know the | festal shout!
They walk, O Lord, in the light | of your presence.
16They rejoice daily | in your name;
they are jubilant | in your righteousness.
17For you are the glory | of their strength,
and by your favor our might | is exalted.
18Truly, our shield belongs | to the Lord;
our king to the Holy | One of Israel.

Hymn of the Day    Let all mortal flesh keep silence  ELW 490

  1. Let all mortal flesh keep silence,
    And with fear and trembling stand;
    Ponder nothing earthly-minded,
    For with blessing in His hand,
    Christ our God to earth descendeth,
    Our full homage to demand.
  2. King of kings, yet born of Mary,
    As of old on earth He stood,
    Lord of lords, in human vesture,
    In the body and the blood;
    He will give to all the faithful
    His own self for heav’nly food.
  3. Rank on rank the host of heaven
    Spreads its vanguard on the way,
    As the Light of light descendeth
    From the realms of endless day,
    That the pow’rs of hell may vanish
    As the darkness clears away.
  4. At His feet the six-winged seraph,
    Cherubim with sleepless eye,
    Veil their faces to the presence,
    As with ceaseless voice they cry:
    “Alleluia, Alleluia,
    Alleluia, Lord Most High!”

Sending Hymn        We are all one in mission             ELW 576

We are all one in mission, we are all one in call,

Our varied gifts united by Christ the Lord of all,

A single great commission compels us from above,

To plan and work together that all may know Christ’s love.

We all are called or service to witness in God’s name,

Our ministries are different our purpose is the same,

To touch the lives of others with God’s surprising grace,

So every folk and nation may feel God’s warm embrace.

Now let us be united and let our song be heard.

Now let us be a vessel for God’s redeeming word,

We all are one in mission we all are one in call,

Our varied gifts united by Christ the Lord of all.

P: Go in Peace and Serve the Lord

C: Thanks be to God
